More Cabinets 7-25-09

Saturday, 7-25-09 - Here's the rest of the cabinets. Above are the oak cabinets in my bathroom. Framing for tub on the left. Below are the oak cabinets in the guest bathroom.

Below is the laundry room. The little door on the left is the laundry chute from Ted's bathroom.

Took the picture below this morning (8-6-09). Bill will be doing all of the tile work in the bathrooms, including the slate flooring in the entryway hall, laundry room, guest bathroom and kitchen. Right now he's working on the shower pan in Ted's bathroom. The other shower pans are done and ready for the tile.

Cabinets 7-24-09

Friday, 7-24-09 - Ted's bookcase room divider was assembled today. There are shelves on both sides and the big screen TV will swivel around to face his bedroom area. (It's currently facing his office area.) The picture below is his bathroom cabinets and the laundry chute on the left opens into the laundry room on the other side of the wall. All the other bathroom cabinets are oak and are installed, but I only have room for 4 pictures so they will have to wait. :)

Jim, our cabinet installer is busy putting some finishing touches on the kitchen cabinets. You can see where the oven stack will go in the cabinets on the right, and right next to that is the pantry, and next to that is where the frig will go. The counter he's working on will house the cooktop stove, double sinks and the dishwasher. Check out the cool skylight!

Took the picture of the beautiful sunset Friday evening from our new deck. Zoom in and you can see the water clearly.

GypCrete and Deck Posts 7-18-09

Tuesday, 7-14-09 - Tubing for the infloor heating was started. Took them about 3 days to finish all the rooms. They poured the gypcrete over the tubing Friday (7-17) morning, and I took the picture below Saturday evening around 6:00 p.m.

Ted admiring the new posts for the glass railing. His suite is to the left and mine is on the right of the prow.

I'm standing on the deck at the corner of my suite facing the fireplace and the prow. This little deck will get a lot of use. The view is fantastic from everywhere on the deck. :)

Siding - Inside Painting 7-10-09

Friday, 7-10-09 - Hello again! The scaffolding came down yesterday and the stone siding is basically done. The plywood you see is where the sliding glass doors are going when they arrive (production problem delay). All of the other windows are in. In the picture below you can see all the sheetrocking is done, and they finished painting the entire inside of the house yesterday. On Monday they will begin installing the in-floor heating system.

I climbed up the hill to take the picture below. Beautiful day. Beautiful view.

Ted is standing in the guest bedroom - in the corner where I'll be setting up my painting easel. Should get lots of natural light there. The cantilevered deck will have a glass railing all the way around the house.

Insulation and Windows 6-16-09

Tuesday, 6-16-09 - Long time, no see! This past month has been busy with electrical, plumbing, stone siding on the outside, etc., all of which is now basically complete except for the stone trim around the big windows. Now it's insulation and sheetrock time. In the picture above you see the "Blow-in Blanket" that is used on all outside walls. Picture below shows the process - it's blown in from their big truck parked in the driveway.

Picture below is what it looks like after all the insulation has been blown in; you can see some of it on the floor. After all the sheetrock and in-floor heating work is complete, they will fill the attic with this insulation material. Insulation batting is used in all the inside walls and the garage walls. Basement & crawl space will be insulated later on.

Took picture below yesterday evening (6-15) around 7:30 pm. We go up and check out the days progress every evening. Ted is inspecting the store front window frames that were delivered yesterday morning. You get a pretty good idea of how big the floor-to-ceiling windows are with him standing in the center of one window frame. The garage was sheetrocked yesterday. As soon as the big windows are in and all the scaffolding is gone I'll get some good pictures and update the blog again. Until then..... : )

Stone Siding - Electrical 5-12-09

Tuesday, 5-12-09 - The Cronin Stone siding is going up. They have completed the guest bedroom/bathroom and are starting on my corner master bathroom. These pictures really don't do it justice - the stone is really beautiful!

I haven't updated the blog lately because most of the work is being done on the inside and under the house (plumbing rough-in, venting, electrical, etc.) and they aren't very pretty pictures. In the picture below you can see a lot of the canned lights in the ceiling and the wiring in the walls. The scaffolding is all the way up to the roof line of the prow (left of fireplace).
Picture below is framed Murphy Bed in the guest bedroom. There are 3 canned lights over what will be the 86" x 45" work/craft table that can be folded out when the bed is closed up in the wall. This table will get a lot of use for photo album updates, art work, etc. The electrician is installing more switches and outlets.

New Front Door 4-17-09

Friday, 4-17-09 - New new front door was installed yesterday, and looks fantastic! I'm standing in the entryway (kitchen on the right). Below they are installing the deck flooring outside of Ted's suite. The white tyvek on the right is the fireplace in the greatroom.
4-9-09 - Ted is moving his things into the garage of our rental. Most of it went into a storage unit in town.
4-6-09 - Took picture below of Ted's newly installed glass block window in his bathroom. The sun comes up on that side of the house so he'll get the morning light. The open window to the right is the laundry room window.
