Pouring Day Cheering Section

The Cheering Section above arrived around noon. Luke, Ruth & Hannah. They had a great time gathering leaves and playing around the big maple tree. It's such a beautiful day!
The tree might be a good place to put some seating benches and a picnic table. It's certainly big enough! The whole family arrived a little later - brothers, sisters, Mom and Grandma. The bigger boys had fun climbing the tree. Such a nice family.

Pouring Foundation Day

Tuesday, 10-28-08 - Pump truck started up at 11:15 am. David is handling the hose and two guys follow with a "vibrating machine" that gets rid of any air bubbles in the concrete.

When I left at 1:15 pm, they were on the 4th truck load of concrete. They were almost finished. David is finishing the garage foundation in picture below.

More Foundation Forms

Monday, 10-27-08 - Stopped by to check on things and snapped picture above.
Friday, 10-24-08 - They are really making good progress on the forms.

Foundation Forms Going Up

Wed. October 22, 2008 - What a beautiful day!! Stopped by the lot at 4:15 p.m. and the crew was still working away on the foundation forms. Above picture is the daylight basement section of the house. Picture below gives you an idea of where the main floor of the house will be - at the top of the forms where the worker is standing on the ladder.

That's the garage above. The little zigzag at upper left is the front door enterance. Below the zigzag continues left and is the outside wall of the guest bedroom

Day Twelve & Thirteen

Sat. 10-18-08 - Stopped by this afternoon. They finished the forms for the 9 columns (plinths), and the concrete will be poured on Tuesday, 10-21-08.

Wed. October 15, 2008 - Drove by at 3:30 p.m. today. We have power! ...and phone lines. It's sitting right on the edge of our lot (property stake with streamers on the right).

Mon. 10-13-08 - Drove by about 2:00 pm and they were in the process of digging the trench to hook us up to PUD power.

Day Ten

Thurs. October 9, 2008, 9:30 am - Took this picture of the 1st snow of the season on Hurricane Ridge. Very chilly morning. Below is the cheer leading section. From left, Hannah, big sister Ruth and big brother Luke, with Mom, Cory, in the background.

Their dad David, in the green shirt, is being watched very carefully by his son in the foreground. We all watched for about 2 hours before we had to go home and warm up.

That pump truck is an amazing piece of equipment. Can only imagine the man hours (and aching backs) it must save. Tomorrow, 10-10-08, they will remove all the forms and next week they set up the forms for the 9 support columns and pour the concrete in them. The 9 columns are required to support the steel framework in the house.

Day Eight & Nine

Mon-Tue-Wed, October 6-7-8, 2008 - They finished all the footing forms and will be pouring the concrete tomorrow morning. Of course I'll be there with the camera :)

Day Six & Seven

Thurs/Fri Oct 2/3, 2008 - They accomplished a lot on the foundation footings in two days. It is really interesting to see what actually goes into this beginning phase of building a house....especially when it's your house :)

Saturday 10-4-08 - Looks like Ted is showing Ken which room is which. A little hard to figure out at this stage.

April & Ken Austin (my daughter & son-in-law) came over for a visit and to see the lot and new house plans. Their jobs make it difficult to get away from their home in Tonasket, WA, so I was extremely pleased to see them.

Friday 9-3-08 - A nice evening out - dinner at the 3 Crabs Restaurant. Our friends Jerry & Diane Hayman on the left (they also live on Owl's Nest Road). Ken by the window and April across from him, then me and Ted. April and I yaked until almost midnight, trying to catch up on the last year.
