Inside Walls Framed 1-31-09

Saturday, 1-31-09 - Beautiful morning, so drove up the hill to take pictures. I climbed to the top of the hill across the street for these 2 pictures. Zoomed in on the one above so you could see the big ship out in the straits. You can see the framing of the inside walls are done. The two big steel framed areas are the master bedrooms and office areas. Scott is starting on the garage today.

Took the picture below from the other side of our big maple tree on the West side of the house.

In picture below I'm standing in the kitchen facing the great room and floor-to-ceiling windows. Counter-top rail where dishwasher, sink and stove will be is in the foreground. There will be a fireplace in the prow where the center post is. Great view while working in the kitchen. :)

Walls Going Up 1-23-09

Friday, 1-23-09 - Drove up the hill at 2:30 p.m. Surprised to see the walls to the guest bedroom and closet were already up. Scott was working on the walls in my bedroom.

Walked around inside the room and closet. I really like the re-designed windows. They will let in plenty of natural light when the room is being used as my art studio and our exercise room, and the closet is plenty big enough to store all the equipment when we have guests coming to spend the night.

The picture below is the basement. The walls are all up. I'm standing in the doorway and you can see through all 3 rooms to the other door. The doorway on the left is to the very large "crawl" space, which you can stand up in. :)

Steel Beam Day 1-20-09

Tuesday, 1-20-09 - Saw the steel beam truck drive by at 8:00 a.m. and jumped in my pickup to follow them up the hill. Very dicey drive up that hill; wouldn't have made it without the 4-wheel drive. Picture above is 1st beam being placed at 8:30 a.m. Picture below is last beam going in at 9:30 a.m. All the fog in the valley moved up the hill.

The two pictures below are the last beam being placed, but the frozen ground gave me the opportunity to capture the moment from a different angle. Cool shots with the sun coming up and shining through the fog. The basement is all enclosed now.

Sub Flooring Installed

Friday, 1-16-09 - Went up to walk around on the new floor today at 2:00 p.m. It really felt good! Craig and Scott are discussing the slight revisions needed to the floor under Ted's walk-in shower (unfinished area on the right) in order to make it wheelchair accessable.
(Always good to plan ahead just in case it's ever needed.)


1-16-09 - Picture above is taken from my suite looking toward the Great Room with prow, and Ted's suite on the other side. In the picture below I'm standing in the other corner where the glass wall will be, looking at the cantilevered deck.

Thursday, 1-15-09 - Drove by at 4:30 p.m. and snapped the picture below. Scott making good progress on the floor.

January 2009 Framing

Friday, 1-9-09 - Drove by and snapped the above picture around 11:30 a.m. Shows most of the basement framing completed.

Saturday, 1-10-09 - Drove up at noon to walk around inside the basement. Didn't think Scott would be working today, but he was. He actually had a helper (Kevin) working with him today.

The siding is going up fast. I can hardly wait to see what it looks like tomorrow.
