Inside of House 3-29-09

Sunday, 3-29-09 - In the picture above I'm standing in the corner of my bedroom/office suite looking toward the fireplace in the great room on the left, and through the door on the right you can see the kitchen counter framing. The light beyond the far wall is the doorway into the garage. In the picture below I'm standing in the corner of Ted's bedroom/office suite, great room fireplace on the right and through the door you can see the kitchen counter framing and the doorway to the pantry.

Below is a picture of the kitchen. You can see the pantry and framing for the kitchen counter. (They already have it plumbed for the sink.) There will be a big 8' skylight over the center of the kitchen. Through the doorway on the right you can see where I was standing when I took the first picture.

In picture below I'm standing in the kitchen beside where the cooktop stove will be, facing the great room. (That funny crown looking thing on the fireplace is just a piece of wood left there by the framer, not a part of the fireplace.) Anyway, these pictures will give you an idea of the layout of the inside of the house. The guest bedroom/bathroom are down the hall behind the kitchen. You can kind of see it in the picture of the kitchen.

Garage Slab 3-16-09 - Tile Roof 3-17-09

March 17, 2009 - The tiles are being transferred onto the roof. They had quite a crew working that first day. It slowed down a little after that.

3-16-09 - The painter was getting all the soffits painted before the roofers arrived. Even with the ladder extended all the way, he still needed an extension on his paint roller. I almost got vertigo from just taking this picture! Way too high up there for me!

3-16-09 - The concrete for the front porch and garage was poured today. They were just finishing up late this afternoon. Of course I had to put our initials in the corner of the garage. :-)

Windows 3-10-09

March 10, 2009 - The roof is all ready for the tiles and the Tyvek is up on the outside of the house.
All the re-bar is down in preparation to pour the concrete slab in the garage.

These pictures show that all the windows have been installed. (Except the floor-to-ceiling ones across the front. They will be special ordered later.)

Roofers - Plumbers 3-6-09

Tuesday, 3-3-09 - The roofers started laying the pad and wood strips down on Tuesday, and they finished on Wednesday (picture below). When the tiles arrive all they have to do is hook them over the wood strips (no nails required). I'm really learning a lot from overseeing this little project. :) As you can see, it's starting to look like a real house.

Friday, 3-6-09 - The plumbers started working on 3-3-09 and are still going strong. Should finish up next week. I'm busy picking out tubs, sinks, faucets, etc. etc. Next week they will be pouring the concrete slab in the garage, then I'll have my first walk-through with the electricians to go over the electrical plan.

These pictures give you an idea of the openness that the floor-to-ceiling windows will give us from the master suites and great room in the center, and the deck will have the glass railing so we'll have unobstructed views of the water and Canada.
